Traders in Dambai are smiling as last-minute Christmas shopping has led to a significant surge in sales.
The once-quiet town has been transformed into a bustling hub of activity, with shoppers scrambling to find the perfect gifts and decorations for the festive season.
According to traders, sales have increased by between 20 and 30 percent over the past few days, with strong demand for food, drinks, and other festive essentials.
Godfred Dawuni, a local farmer from Gyato-Chayo, a farming community under the Krachi Nchumuru district, said he sold 100 tubers of yam for GHC 5,000.
Madam Selina Sulleyman, a clothing trader, expressed her enthusiasm about the boost in sales.
“Business has been good, and I anticipate even better sales in the next few days. Thanks to Christmas, there are many people in town to buy, and I believe this Christmas will be a particularly good one.”
Other traders, including those selling cereals, oil, tin tomatoes, and more, are also reporting significant increases in sales.
Madam Rose Attaah Babijome, a businesswoman who sells cereals, told GNA that the prices of basic cereals have increased significantly.
She said a bowl of beans and rice now costs GHC 45, while a bowl of millet and soybean costs GHC 35.
The festive season has brought a welcome boost to the local economy, with traders and farmers benefiting from the increased demand for goods.
As the big day approaches, traders are optimistic that sales will continue to rise, making this holiday season one to remember.
