Accra, June 15, GNA - Forty Delta Airlines employees will this week join the Habitat for Humanity International in Ghana as volunteers to build houses in partnership with families in need of safe, decent shelter.
The project is part of the airline's new philanthropic program - Delta's Force for Global Good, which focuses on uniting employees and customers in support of philanthropic efforts throughout the world. Since its formation in 1987, the Habitat for Humanity project, Ghana has housed thousands of families in safe, affordable homes. Habitat for Humanity is the airline's first partner in this effort. A statement by Alberta Akosa, Marketing Executive of Global Media Alliance said as part of the Ghana building programme, the volunteers would help in building schools at Mowrie, a village near Kumasi. The employees of Delta Airlines would ship to Ghana in advance, items to donate for the school project which include: books, school bags, and other educational materials.
The statement said, "Habitat for Humanity Ghana is extremely delighted to have Delta as a partner in this mission of providing housing in Ghana." 15 June 07
