The demand for goods and services has dropped prior to the celebration of the Christmas and New Year in the Koforidua Municipality.

A survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in the markets and streets of the Municipality showed that there are human and vehicular traffic e in town but this had not reflected on the patronage of goods.

Ms Sandra Baiden, a shop owner, said sales had been low and added that she could not explain why people are not patronizing goods this Christmas.

Madam Veronica Asabea, a trader, said she had not sold anything since morning and suggested that people might not be buying of the economic hardships these days.

A boutique owner, Baba Amadu, said “this is the worse Christmas I have ever seen since going into private business some six years ago.”

Kofi Antwi, a resident of Adweso, said he came to town to do window shopping, hoping to chance on a cheap items that would meet his pocket.

He said he did not see the need to spend much on Christmas because to him every day is Christmas so long as he is alive.

Mrs Rose Armah, a seamstress, said she and the family will celebrate the Christmas in a small way that would not outweigh their budget.

She said there are other important expenses the family must cater for immediately after Christmas and New Year celebrations.
