The Governments of Ghana and Denmark on Friday signed 140 billion cedis loan agreement for Phase II of the Water Sector Programme Support (WSPS) project. Mr Yaw Barimah, Minister of Works and Housing and Mr Ole Blicher-Olsen, the Danish Ambassador signed the agreement for Ghana and Denmark, respectively.

The Ghana News Agency reports Mr Barimah as saying in an interview that the agreement was a confirmation of the government's commitment to provide clean, affordable and accessible water supply throughout the country.

He said; "it is a further confirmation of government's developmental strategy for the water sector aimed at increasing focus on decentralisation structures and emphasising on the private sector participation."

Mr Blicher-Olsen said although the new Danish government suspended disbursement of funds to numerous developing countries it had kept faith with Ghana because of the mutual trust and understanding built over the years.
