Kumasi, May 10, GNA - Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, the Deputy Finance Minister, has returned home from Cape Town, South Africa, where he attended a two-day Practitioners' Forum on Budget Support.
The conference, which was supported by the World Bank, brought together budget and economic experts from all over the world. The Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo in Kumasi, led discussions on multi-donor budgetary support at the forum.
Dr Osei in a statement signed in Kumasi by Mr John K. Owusu-Afriyie, his personal political assistant, said budget support, management and alignment with the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programme has helped to stabilise Ghana's economy since 2001. Ghana's case, he said, was a showcase in Africa and experiences shared with other emerging and developing countries had enhanced the country's position as an economic force to reckon with in sub-Sahara Africa.
