District Assemblies urged to enter traditional exports sector.

Kadjebi (V/R), Jan 28, GNA- District Assemblies have been urged to explore the non-traditional export sector as an area for increasing incomes of their people.

Mr Collins Boateng, Chief Executive of the Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC) in an address to the Kadjebi District People's Assembly said the assemblies on finding the sector viable in their various areas would provide the tools for those ready to go into it. He said crops like chilli pepper, garden eggs and other vegetables, which were in high demand in European countries, could raise import earning of the country and improve the living conditions of local producers.

Mr Boateng announced that the GEPC was in the process of opening a zonal office in Ho to bring its activities nearer to the people in the Volta Region.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, appealed to District Assemblies to help Fire Volunteer groups with Wellington Boots, cutlasses and also facilitate member's registration with the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Mr Kofi Adjei Ntim, Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE) announced that the main streets in Kadjebi would be tarred as part of preparations towards the Ghana @ 50 celebrations.
