President of the Ghana Hotels Association, Dr. Edward Ackah Nyameke Jnr has told the managers of the selected hotels that are being used to quarantine the travelers into the country for coronavirus, to thoroughly disinfect their facilities during and after the exercise.

Some fifteen hotels are being used as quarantine centres for people arriving in the country as part of efforts by the government to block the coronavirus from spreading among the Ghanaian public.

Already, some of the travelers have been tested positive for the virus.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, March 26, Dr Nyameke Jnr, charged the hotel operators to do the needful by thoroughly disinfecting the facilities during and after the exercise.

He also called on the public not to attach stigma to these hotels.

He said: “The decision was between government and the selected hotels, so we want to see this more like a call to duty to support the country’s quest to find a solution to this virus and not necessarily for profit.”

He added: “I will be surprised if anybody should attach any stigma to these hotels. I will rather want us to congratulate them for taking these bold steps and I believe the right measures have been out in place to ensure that these hotels are disinfested effectively during the time of the quarantine and also after.”
