Ghana’s technology icon, fibre-optics inventor and Nanotechnology expert, Dr. Thomas Mensah, has received the 2019 International Nanotechnology Conference award.
The award was presented at the World Nanotechnology Conference held in Dubai from April 15 -17, where he was also the guest speaker.
Dr. Mensah at this international conference was also appointed to the European Commission on Advanced Nanotechnology Education based in France. This Commission will guide the training of graduates in nanotechnology, focusing on industrialisation of the technology.
Dr. Mensah’s keynote speech was titled ‘The Commercialisation of Nanotechnology in 21st Century’.
The lecture was delivered to Nanotechnology scientists, engineers, students and professors from over 20 countries: including the United States of America, UK, France, Italy, Spain, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and India.
Dr. Thomas Mensah is a leading world Infrastructure expert, whose current focus is developing a road map for the industrialisation of Ghana. He is also the Founder and creator of the Silicon Valley-Ghana, located at the Kofi Annan ICT Centre. This innovation has brought a Google Artificial Intelligence Lab to Ghana, which serves as the focal point for AI Development on the entire continent of Africa by Google.
The Consular General of Ghana to Dubai, Samata Gifty Bukari, also attended the lecture and was first to congratulate Dr. Mensah on behalf of the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She expressed how Ghana as a country is proud of what he represents, his global achievements and what he has done for the country.
Dr. Mensah and the Consular General held discussions with business leaders in Dubai on Technology Transfer and potential Investments into Ghana.
He is the holder of several Patents and the author of four books on Innovation, Superconductor Engineering, Fibre Optics Engineering, The Right Stuff Comes in Black Too, and the International Text Book, Nanotechnology Commercialisation
He is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering, Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeoronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of Ghana Institute of Engineering, and a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in the USA.
