Cape Coast, April 2, GNA - The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region has hailed Dr Kwabena Duffuor, for winning the 2011 Best African Finance Ministers Award. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Cape Coast, Mr Ato Amoah, Regional NDC Youth Organiser said for Ghana's Finance Minister to win the prestigious award after beating his counterparts from South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda was no mean achievement and the entire nation must feel proud for that.
The award was instituted by the Banker, London's authoritative financial and economic magazine, which is published by the Financial Times to recognise the difficult decisions taken by award winners to transform the financial sector of their countries. Mr Amoah expressed happiness that the world was monitoring the performance of the government of Professor John Evans Atta Mills and had appreciated his achievements.
"We the youth are happy that whilst the detractors of the government have refused to see the good work the government is doing to build a Better Ghana for all to enjoy, the advanced economy have acknowledged its performance," the NDC said. He said those who named President Mills 93Professor do little" must now bow down their heads in shame.
Mr Amoah appealed to the government and its appointees to remain focus as their opponents were bent on distracting their attention in order to derail their laudable programmes to improve the lots of Ghanaians.
He urged the youth not to be deterred about the noise the opponents of the NDC were making in the mass media and rather intensify the house-to-house campaign to explain the good works the government was doing.
Mr Amoah claimed that because opponents of the Party had nothing to offer the nation, they had decided to launch baseless attacks on whatever the government did or say.
