The awards being organised by African Banker Magazine and IC Events, i= s designed to recognise the reforms, rapid modernisation, consolidation, integration and expansion of Africa's banking and financial system, as well as celebrate excellence and best practices in African banking. It is a landmark annual event for African banking that takes place during the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings. EB-ACCION, a micro finance joint venture between Ecobank, ACCION Investments SPC and the IFC, was established in March 2008 and has since rolled out more than seven branches in Ghana with a client base of over 60,000. She said the savings and loans company had consistently applied innovation in the effort to create convenient and tailored banking for the unbanked, under-banked and low income earners, a move that earned it the award. EB-ACCION has been providing secured savings, quick loan delivery and other services to mainly the low income and the unbanked through the most convenient channels. It also offers Point of Sale (POS) deposit collections, SMS Alerts, Business Advisory, and Western Union Money Transfer payments. Mr Hubert Dake, Deputy Managing Director of EB-ACCION said the award was due to the hard work and dedication of the staff and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
