Accra, April 10, GNA - The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia would hold the 39th Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from May 10 to May 15 2006. The theme of the conference is: "Meeting the Challenge of Employment and Poverty in Africa."
The focus on employment would provide an opportunity to consider policy options for effectively implementing the outcome of the 2004 African Union Summit in Ouagadougou and the declaration on employment and poverty reduction adopted by African heads of state and government. Ghana News Agency contacts with the ECA said the subject was in keeping with the decision taken in the 2003 that ECA Conference of Ministers would be held jointly with the annual meetings of the African Development Bank (ADB).
A joint symposium would be held on May 16 2006 around the theme: "The creation of productive employment and decent work for all leading to sustainable development", among other topics.
