ECOBANK Ghana Limited has launched its ATM services at a ceremony at its head office in Accra.
The launching of the ATM puts into operation other ATM services at its branches on the Ring Road Central, Kumasi and Tarkwa.
This, according to Mr. Eric Abeku Cofie of the Consumer Banking Department shows the bank’s commitment to continuously deliver valuable services to its clients. He said the bank is looking at putting ATMs at certain vantage points in Accra, Tema and Kumasi by the end of the year.
He mentioned the important role ATM facilities are playing in our banking services today, without which it is almost impossible for any bank to effectively, meet its customers needs and enhance customer relationship.
Later in an interview with The Heritage, Mr. Cofie said Ecobank, having been granted the Universal Banking License by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) now has a wider scope of operation, which includes merchant and retail banking.
He said the ATM would also help grow the retail banking sector adding that the bank will build on the client base that it already has. Mr. Cofie said very soon the bank would introduce other card related facilities.
Already, the bank has received positive and encouraging response to the ATM facilities.
He said the bank has a target of 72hrs to process application for ATM card, which he said the bank was still working hard to reduce the period.
Mr. Cofie said Ecobank has a task of putting customers first, and always setting targets to delight customers.
The bank, winning the Bank of the Year award for two years running was a result of the customers’ perception of the bank, having experienced their smooth operations.
He said currently there is a daily limit of ?2m withdrawal from an ATM, adding that the flexibility of the facility allows for the use of different cards to draw from one account with the authorisation of the accounts holder.
He said there are adequate measures in place to check against ATM Fraud.
The ATM facility, allows users to set daily or weekly withdrawal limits for each card that is linked to an account.
Other services include, cheque deposits, chequebook requests, statement request, transfers between accounts and Personal Identification Number (PIN) change by cardholder.
