EU Projects bright economic outlook for Ghana

Accra, March 2, GNA - The Head of the European Delegation in Ghana, Mr Stefan Frowein, at the weekend projected a bright economic outlook for the country, using the economic policies being pursued by the government as the yardstick.

" Government is on the right path and if it continued in the same direction, the target of attaining a middle income status will not be a mirage," he said when he launched a cultural exhibition in Accra, as part of the 55th European Union (EU) week celebration.

The week is marked by member countries of the Union to facilitate the integration of Europe and ensuring the peace and economic stability of member states.

Mr Frowein said Ghana was doing far better than other countries in the West African sub-region, hence the need to give the country the needed external support to fight poverty and improve on the standard of living of the citizenry.

He said the EU aimed at encouraging good cultural relations with Ghana on the basis of trust, respect and integrity adding, "mutuality is a key word...".

Eight EU member states including Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom are taking part in the nine-day week celebration.
