Economic Power Should be held By Ghanaians

The Chairman of Appiah Minkah Complex and one time Deputy Minster of Trade and Industry Mr Appiah Minkah has emphasized that the economic power of every nation should be in the hands of its citizens. According to him, this presupposes that the industrial base of Ghana should be controlled by Ghanaians themselves. Speaking on the Personality Profile segment of Daybreak Kapital hosted by Korsi Asiseh, Mr Appiah Minkah noted that Ghana need! s foreign direct investors but should be made to control our economy. He underscored that in this era of globalization, no nation can stand on its own but safeguarding the national interest should be paramount.

He expressed his happiness with the current democratic environment and urged Ghanaians to exercise patience with the government to help it deliver its goals. According to him, he supports the Free Compulsory Basic Education FCUBE drive but emphasized that the greatest enemy of Africa is ignorance and illiteracy.

Mr Appiah Minkah traced his childhood upbringing from his humble beginnings as a village boy then later as a porter and as a mortuary attendant in UK after stowin! g away on a ship in the fifties. He advised the youth to be committed to their work adding that success involves hard work and perseverance.
