Fifty-six farmers from Eguafo Breman in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality have received training in Financial Management towards maximising their productivity.

The training, an initiative of the Rural Enterprise Programme (REP)/ Business Advisory Centre (BAC) Project, was to equip the farmers with the needed capacity building to help them minimise cost to improve profit.

The three-day programme enlightened the farmers on factors such as the Costing and Pricing of a Product, Customer Relations, Efficient Budgeting and the Proper Accounts Keeping.

Mr. Owusu Ansah, a resource person from Noans Company Limited, a capacity building Centre, encouraged the participants to use the knowledge they had acquired to enable them to generate enough revenue to expand their businesses.

He advised the farmers to appreciate the need to pay themselves as workers so that the little profit that accrued from their operations could go into savings, which they could rely on in times of emergencies.

Ms. Veronica Essel, the Head of KEEA REP/BAC, said that farmers and processors in five communities in the KEEA Municipality were trained on how to add value to their products to boost their income-generating activities last year.

She said a follow-up after the training programme showed that the beneficiaries were utilising the skills acquired, whilst the participants themselves testified that improving on the processing of the various products had helped boost their market.

She urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills they had acquired to add value to the products to help them to generate more income to help alleviate poverty in their areas.

Mr. Kofi Kyei, the Chairman of Eguafo Breman Farmers Association, commended REP/BAC for the training and appealed for funding to enable them go into large scale production.

He expressed optimism that the skills and knowledge acquired would enable them to work more productively to alleviate them from poverty.
