Emirates Airlines Ghana Limited is set to operate a one-off A380 flight into the country to mark the launch of the new Terminal 3 at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The Airlines’ flagship double-decker is expected to be the first-ever scheduled A380 service into Ghana on October 2, 2018.

Emirates Airlines Ghana would partner the Ghana Airport Company Limited to test its infrastructure to accommodate an A380 aircraft.

This came to light when the new Ghana Country Manager of Emirates Airlines, Catherine Wesley engaged the media in Ghana at a meeting on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Movempick Ambassador Hotel.

She disclosed that “customers travelling with Emirates from Ghana benefit from a generous baggage allowance, two pieces of 23kgs each in Economy Class and two pieces of 32kgs in First and Business Class.”

President Akufo-Addo will soon commission the multimillion dollar KIA Terminal 3 which is expected to help position Ghana as the aviation hub for West Africa.

Passengers on the A380 have a unique experience that introduces them to new standards of in-flight comfort from first class to economy.

A380 is considered the world’s largest and most spacious passenger aircraft, with its cabin allowing passengers to stretch out in the widest seats in a calm and relaxing environment.

The Emirates A380 aircraft currently flies to more than 40 destinations around the world, including Dubai, Sydney, Melbourne, Amsterdam, Milan, New York, among others.

Madam Wesley, who has served with Emirates Airlines over the last nine years, told journalists that after the one-off flight, the A380 aircraft could be reintroduced in Ghana.

She was optimistic about Emirates future business operations in Ghana, saying since 2004 when the airline first registered its footprint on the Ghanaian soil, it has seen a tremendous growth in its passenger numbers, especially air travelers making trips out of Ghana.

Touching on Emirates’ commitment to its Ghanaian travelers, she said “with the constant developments and ever-changing needs in Ghana, the importance of our partnerships in Ghana will never dwindle.

“And I look forward to continuing our work in Ghana by providing value and superior service to all our customers,” the Country Manager, who until her appointment was Commercial Sales Manager for Emirates in Johannesburg South Africa, said.
