The Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) is due to hold the 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards Night for the year 2015 in October.

This is the second edition of the awards since its inception.

The maiden edition was held on 6th December 2014 at the State House Banquet Hall, Accra.

Under the theme, ‘Engineers, rise up to reconstruct the Nation,’ the President of Ghana Institution of Engineers, Ing. Kwaku Boampong said, “Many engineers and non-engineers as professionals working in both the public and private sectors of Ghana continue to play an important role in shaping our environment and promoting sustainable development.”

He said, “These professionals need to be appreciated for their efforts and contributions in maintaining the integrity of good engineering practice amidst competing development interest and challenging situations in Ghana, especially floods, fire and collapse of buildings.”

Ing Boampong said the awards were established to recognize the valuable contributions of individuals and organizations.

“It was also to promote the key role of the engineering profession in public life whilst ensuring that our members become accountable to their works.

“It recognizes valuable contributions and extraordinary performance in all aspects of the engineering profession and a strong awareness of the profession among related professions, all sectors and the general public,” he said.

Ing Boampong said all nominations received so far are being reviewed by a panel and successful nominees would be released by October 15, 2015.

The winners would receive specially designed awards and citation of recognition to mark their achievements.
