Engineers and Planners not building Ashaiman road

Mr Kofi Job Gyasi, Owner, Kofi Job Company Limited, says his company is building the Ashaiman road and not Engineers and Planners, a company belonging to Mr Ibrahim Mahama, President John Dramani Mahama's brother.

He explained that due to the use of the crash rock for the six kilometre-road project, he hired some equipment from Engineers and Planners to work with and that might have created the perception.

Mr Gyasi told journalists that his outfit is a well-established class A1 company which is constructing roads in other parts of the country.

He said even though the road construction was for a 24-month duration, he is doing his best to complete the 34.5 million cedi project within 12 months by working day and night.

He said he was aware that residents have been complaining about the traffic and lack of water supply to their houses due to the construction.

Residents whose water pipelines have been affected by the construction of the road recently appealed to the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly through the Ghana News Agency to provide them with water tanker services as some had resorted to local irrigation dam water for domestic use.

In 2013, residents, and drivers in the Municipality demonstrated, blocked and burnt used tyres to express their displeasure about the very bad nature of their roads.

Mr Gyasi called on the government to have faith in Ghanaian contractors.

He also appealed to banks operating in the country to provide contractors with flexible loans to carry out developmental projects.
