Entrepreneurs charged to help fix economy

Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder of Entrepreneurs Foundation Ghana, has tasked entrepreneurs to contribute towards the swift revival of the country’s economy.

He said, “The path to re-launching our economy is fundamentally in the hands of entrepreneurs, in particular the public-private partnership involving the Ghanaian entrepreneur.

Mr Ato Gaisie, who was speaking at the Ghana Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Induction Awards, called for the promotion of entrepreneurship in view of the numerous economic challenges facing the private sector in the country.

“Given the economic challenges the private sector is facing, the need to encourage and promote entrepreneurship is even more greater than ever before,” he said.

Mr Ato Gaisie said entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the country’s economy, explaining that “entrepreneurs support the building of important economic infrastructure, they employ people of all working statuses to be able to enhance living standards; they engender creativity and innovation; they pay the taxes that develop our country and communities; they develop our communities through their social responsibilities andcreate wealth.”

He congratulated all recipients of theHall of Fame Awards for their achievement, urging them to persevere in the wake of numerous challenges.

“You are the benchmark by which other entrepreneurs will be judged, and you now hold a greater responsibility as ambassadors of entrepreneurship to be true leadersinyour community,” Mr Ato Gaisie said

Inductees

Out of 120 entrepreneurs honoured by the Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, 26 outstanding entrepreneurs in Ghana were inducted into the prestigious Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.

Inductees constitute the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFGs) Business Network, an entrepreneurial think-tank, which focuses on promoting the interest of the private sector and entrepreneurs in Ghana.

US Ambassador, Gene A. Cretz, in his remarks, said entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful ways in which individuals can improve their lives.

“I firmly believe that the economic potential derived from entrepreneurship is crucial to catapulting countries such as Ghana to become established middle-income countries and my government is committed to partnering Ghanaian entrepreneurs to make this happen,” he said.
