Entrepreneurship clinic to be held at KNUST

A six-week entrepreneurship clinic is to be held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for all final year students of the University this week.

The programme aims at exposing the students to business opportunities and venture creation to aid the establishment of their own businesses after completing their various courses of study.

It is being put together by the College of Art and Social Sciences (CASS) in collaboration with the Centre for Business Development (CBD) and would start on February 1and end on March 8.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) about the programme, Mr Ralph Nyadu-Addo, Head of the Centre for Business Development (CBD), said the students would be educated on the general knowledge in all aspects of the entrepreneurship and small business management needed for successful business enterprises.

He said accomplished chief executive officers from selected companies have been invited as resource persons and they would share their experiences through teaching, coaching and mentoring of the students.

Managing Directors for Airtel Ghana Limited (Ltd), HFC Bank, FIO Enterprises Ltd, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, Type Ghana Ltd, RLG Electronic ltd, GLICO Insurance, UT bank Ghana Ltd, KESSBEN, Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia and other cerebrated entrepreneurs are some of the resource persons.

He mentioned other topics to be treated as appreciating the relationship among concepts and principles of entrepreneurship and small business management, its prospects and challenges.

Managing and sustaining a business in Ghana, understanding the business environment and opportunities and threats it presents, discovering and utilizing their potentials in life and general coping with life after school as well as understanding the business financing systems of Ghana including micro financing will also be discussed.

Mr Nyadu-Addo, who is also the chairman of the planning committee, said it was expected that students would go out with entrepreneurship human resource development skills mindset.
