Methodist University College (MUC), in collaboration with Handong Global University of South Korea is organising a three-day Global Entrepreneurship Training workshop for stakeholders in the advancement of economic, social entrepreneurship and building of network.
The workshop, which is aimed at facilitating the establishment of partnerships in the private sector, is being attended by parliamentarians, policy makers, government planners and personnel from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Others include business executives and members of Ghana Association of Industries as well as representatives from Nigeria.
Addressing the opening session in Accra on Monday, Very Reverend Professor Samuel Adjepong, Principal of MUC, said it was important for leaders of developing countries to be given the opportunity to experience and learn about entrepreneurship.
This, he said would help create entrepreneurs who could operate in a conducive, social and financial environments at the national, regional and district levels to create jobs and enhance development and economic growth.
Prof Adjepong said the training would incorporate academic courses and workshops for business-plan writing and competition, after which the participants would have the basic skills to start a new enterprise on their own.
Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minister of Education, said entrepreneurship was increasingly being considered as a viable platform for economic growth and prosperity in the country.
He said there was the need for the country to increase entrepreneurship interest among universities towards portfolio careers for entrepreneurial skills creativity and flexibility.**
