Esoko, a for-profit social enterprise offering a powerful communications platform for rural agri-businesses, today announced that Hillary Miller-Wise has been selected as the company's new chief executive officer.

Miller-Wise will assume the role on 5th October 2015. Esoko currently operates in 10 countries helping businesses communicate with and manage farmers through its mobile and web platform.

"I am honoured to have been selected as Esoko's next CEO. It's a privilege to be part of such an innovative company. I intend to build on that history of innovation to continue to solve problems faced by smallholder farmers and agribusinesses throughout the developing world", said Miller-Wise.

Miller-Wise succeeds Mark Davies, the founder of Esoko. Davies will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors.

"I'm so excited Hillary will be leading the team. She's got extensive experience in 'mobile agriculture', having worked at both Technoserve and Grameen in their innovation and rural business sectors.

Her focus on a market-based approach to development is a great match for the kind of company we are".

Prior to joining Esoko, Miller-Wise served as Africa Regional CEO for Grameen Foundation.

She has spent her career in social enterprise and international development, including leading country programs for TechnoServe and FINCA International as well as six years as a senior consultant with DAI.

Miller-Wise holds a master's degree in international economics from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from INSEAD.
