Oil and gas production on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah would be interrupted twice next year – January and March, to allow for the repair of its faulty turret.

This was revealed by Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko as he appeared in parliament on Friday, 17 November.

According to the 2016 Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) report, similar repair works on the turret affected petroleum production in the country in 2016.

Mr Agyarko explained that the shutdown will last “three weeks each on January 18, 2018 and March 7, 2018 to enable repair works proceed”.

He said technical engineers are taking steps to “optimise the number of shut downs and minimise shut down duration”.

He revealed that gas supply during the maintenance period will be compensated with “gas from the newly-commissioned TEN fields”.
