Financial company supports growth of SMEs

Golden Pride Savings and Loans Limited, a financial company, dedicated to private sector growth, has made available Ghc4.5 million in support of small-scale and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Obuasi Municipality.

Mr. Peter Frazier Owusu-Kusi, the Senior Manager in charge of Credit and Operations, said this was meant to aid their expansion and viability.

He said apart from the credit package, the company was actively assisting them to adopt best business management practices to make them more competitive.

He made these known when he received a citation in honour of the company for its tremendous contribution to private sector and youth development as well as leadership training at Obuasi.

The citation was presented to it by the Placenta Leadership Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

Golden Pride has its main office at Obuasi with branches at Tarkwa, Sunyani and Accra.

Mr. Owusu-Kusi spoke of plans to establish strong presence in Kumasi to bring its services to the business community in the metropolis.

Mr. Collins Preko-Nyarko, the Human Resource Manager, said as a responsible corporate citizen, it had been providing support to education and health development.

The company, he said, had put customer care at the centre of its activities and would continue to introduce innovative products to meet their financial needs.

Mr. Peter Ampofo, Executive-Director of the Foundation, gave the company high marks for the good job it was doing to grow the economy, give jobs and create wealth.

He expressed the determination of the Foundation to work together with corporate institutions to empower and change the economic situation of the people, especially the youth.
