Financial economist calls for shake-up in GRA

A Financial economist and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, John Gatsi is calling for a massive shake up in the management of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The GRA oversees the revenue mobilization system of the country.

President Mahama last week made some changes to the leadership of the customs division.

But Mr. Gatsi told XYZ News that is not enough. He wants massive change to take place within the management of the GRA itself to improve revenue mobilization.

He said “It is very clear that you cannot leave people in the helm of affairs for a very long time in the revenue institution. For that matter I don’t know why the finance minister himself has not at yet recommended drastic shake-up in the revenue system”.

Last week, another financial consultant, Kudzo Akpabey made similar call for the removal of the GRA commissioner.
