Mankranso (Ash), Nov.18, GNA - About 500 women in the Ahafo Ano South district of Ashanti have benefited from loans totalling about 150 million cedis as part of assistance from the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs.

The loan facility is to enable the beneficiaries to expand their businesses so as to improve upon their standard of living. The beneficiary women received the loans at Mankranso last Tuesday as part of the poverty alleviation scheme of the government.

Addressing the women, Mr Stephen Balado Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South and the NPP parliamentary candidate for the December elections told the women that the government does not renege on its promise.

The occasion he said was therefore, a testimony of government's commitment to poverty alleviation and therefore, asked the people in the constituency not to be deceived by the lies and propaganda being peddled around by the opposition parties.

Mr Balado Manu said the government would continue to tell Ghanaians the truth and put in place realistic policies that would move the country forward, and announced that the Sabronum, Pokukrom, Ahwerewam and Wioso-Wansamire roads would be rehabilitated soon. Mr Joseph Agyemang Dapaah, the Ahafo Ano South constituency chairman of the NPP, commended the government for giving the district its fair share of projects.

I have been an assemblyman for 10 years and have realised that it is only under the NPP administration that the district has actually seen some real development.

He cautioned supporters and members of the party against any acts that could affect the chances of the party in the December polls in the constituency and said the party expected nothing short of victory.
