THE First Ghana International Family, Food and Drinks Fair 2002 which opened on December 19, 2002 and was scheduled to end on New Year’s day has been extended to January 5, 2003 to enable families enjoy food and drinks at affordable prices during the first week of the new year when most of them will still be on holidays.
Organised jointly by the Ghana Trade Company Limited (GTCL) and Rebban Ads an events and advertising company the food and drinks fair has attracted quiet a number of people who have enjoyed the well laid out programmes at the fair.
And as mentioned in the opening speech of Mrs. Esther Ofori Chief Executive of the GTCL, fairs organised during the Christmas period is not an occasion to “promote business but also create a platform for entertainment, leisure and merry making which is what the season of Christmas is meant to be.”
She also promised that there will be a splash of highlife and hiplife artistes and a rich cultural display of traditional dances. All the top hiplife artistes have therefore performed there and Buk Bak, Slim Buster, Terry Bonchaka and others have thrilled patrons to the fair with their brand of music.
The highly successful Accra Street Carnival was shifted there too adding an atmosphere of pomp and pageantry to the fair. But it is not only food and drinks that are on sale there other products from fashion to electronic appliances are on sale there making the fair a big market place with very affordable goods.
With the extension comes a special entertainment package on Saturday and Sunday from 6.00pm till day break on both days featuring the ATL Sounds and the nations best in hiplife among them Buk Bak , Terry Bonchaka, Nkasei, K. K. Ofosu and Batman. MCs for both events will be Bola Ray of Top Radio.
