A Ghanaian registered company, Forum Networks Limited has introduced a platform that makes it Africa’s leading provider of teleconferencing solutions with its recent implementation of the largest conference bridge in West Africa.
The service which permits up to 1,000 participants to be on one call could be made to accommodate larger groups depending on clients’ request. Forum Networks is projecting rapid growth in traffic leaping from 3,000 to 10,000 concurrent calls within a year.
The service allows participants to exchange documents through screen-sharing on a computer or tablet and provides a secure and convenient platform for collaboration for many individuals, corporate organizations, media houses, religious bodies and for governance purposes.
The platform allows anyone to log on to Forum’s website (www.forum.com.gh), obtain their own conferencing number and access code and hold a conference or audio meeting at anytime. Once a user has a number, they simply give the number, the access code and the meeting time to all participants. At the meeting time, all participants dial in to the conference number, enter the access code they received and they are all connected together.
There is no charge for using the service. Only normal call charges apply.
“We are happy for this announcement. It has taken us over a year to get here and it was worth every minute. With the platform we have deployed we are enabling collaboration, increasing productivity and improving bottom lines. There is some use in it for everyone....Corporate collaboration without vehicular traffic, Distance education, Polling Station Attendant training for reliable elections, and much more. We look forward to growing it and introducing other innovative value-added products that make meaningful contributions to our society”– Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, Chairman, Forum Networks Limited
MTN, the leading telecommunication service provider in Ghana provided hosting services for Forum’s servers and media gateways as well as dedicated high speed internet and VPN-over-Mobile service. MTN also partnered with Forum to provide access to their ten million subscribers.
“It is a pleasure to host Forum at our data centre and to provide them with solutions for their setup and operations. Our one-stop integrated service offering is a very sensible alternative for a start-up or any organization for that matter to reduce upfront CAPEX and manage ongoing OPEX effectively. Our hosting service enabled Forum to deploy quickly without the need for them to build an expensive dedicated data center”—Eric Nsarkoh, GM, MTN Business.
