Fundamental structures of GRA were laid by late Prof Mills - Senior Minister

Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo has posited that the fundamental structure of our revenue today, was laid down by the late President John Evans John Evans Atta Mills.

Speaking at the 5th Memorial Lecture held in honour of the late Mills, the former Finance Minister who was in charge of revenue, under the erstwhile Kufour administration said, he followed up on what the late Mills did and was proud of that.

‘’The late Mills’ demonstration of deep financial knowledge in taxation, made him a member of the Ghana Stock Exchange Council, Management Committee Member- Commonwealth Administrative and Tax Experts, United Nations Adhoc Committee Experts in International Corporation on Tax Matters and United Nations Law and Population Project,’’ he said.

Mr. Maafo said the late Mills after becoming the Commissioner for the Internal Revenue Service carried out a lot of good reforms.

‘’If you see the structure of our revenue today; the fundamental structure was laid down by Prof. Mills. I became the Minister of Finance, I was responsible for revenue and I followed up what Mills did,’’ he stated.
