GACL has welcomed the 27th airline to operate from Accra International Airport
Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has described the introduction of ValueJet Airlines to Ghana as a “bold decision to operate daily flights on the Lagos-Accra-Lagos route.”
ValueJet officially commenced operations in Ghana on Monday, March 30, 2026, with the launch of the Lagos-Accra-Lagos route, becoming the 27th airline to operate from Accra International Airport. The inaugural flight was celebrated at a ceremony attended by aviation officials, diplomats, and airline executives.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Managing Director of GACL, Group Executive, Finance, Rev Dr John Okwesi Arthur, welcomed ValueJet to Ghana and congratulated the airline on its decision.

“This launch demonstrates confidence in the Ghanaian aviation industry and endorses the great strides we continue to make to position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa,” she said.
Opare noted that ValueJet’s operations would enhance connectivity and strengthen relations between Ghana and Nigeria.
“The Lagos-Ghana-Lagos route already enjoys significant aircraft and passenger traffic, and this latest addition will deepen competition and offer travelers competitive fares,” she stated.
She further urged the airline to maintain high operational standards, emphasising safety, security, reliability, and innovation.
“GACL assures all airlines of our continued commitment to provide smooth facilitation to consistently achieve on-time departures and arrivals. We also encourage the adoption of excellent customer service strategies to create memorable passenger experiences,” Yvonne Opare added.
The ceremony also highlighted GACL’s ongoing efforts to expand and modernise aviation infrastructure, ensuring Accra International Airport remains the preferred choice for travelers across West Africa.
