GACL sets December 2026 deadline for Terminal 2 upgrade

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced that renovation works on Terminal 2 of Accra International Airport are scheduled for completion by December 2026.

The $15 million project aims to expand passenger handling capacity and ease congestion at Terminal 3, which has faced rising pressure from increasing traffic.

Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, disclosed the timeline during an oversight visit by Parliament’s Roads and Transportation Committee, expressing confidence that the upgraded terminal will be ready by year‑end.

“By December 2026, we will finish the whole work on Terminal 2, and His Excellency the President will come and commission it,” she said.

DVLA to scrap registration year on new number plates

Once completed, Terminal 2 will be upgraded to handle both domestic and international flights, offering passengers more options and improving the overall travel experience.

The renovation forms part of GACL’s broader plan to modernise airport facilities and meet growing demand for air travel in Ghana.
