Kotoka International Airport, Terminal 3
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has extended its congratulations to Africa World Airlines (AWA) on the launch of direct flights from Accra to Ouagadougou, scheduled to commence on June 3, 2025.
In a congratulatory letter to AWA, the Managing Director of GACL, Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, expressed the company's delight at the airline’s continued growth and expansion.
“As a stakeholder in the aviation industry, GACL shares in your success and wishes you the very best on the new route,” she stated.
The introduction of this direct route marks a significant step toward enhancing regional connectivity. It promises increased convenience and efficiency for both business and leisure travelers, offering seamless travel between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
In a related development, Uganda Airlines has received all the necessary permits and approvals to commence operations out of Accra. While the official start date and flight schedules are yet to be announced, the airline’s entry will bring the number of international carriers operating at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to 25.
Uganda Airlines' upcoming service is expected to further diversify destination offerings and strengthen air links between West and East Africa.
These developments signal growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation sector and align with the broader vision of positioning the country as the Preferred Aviation Hub and Leader in Airport Business in West Africa.
GACL said it will continue to work closely with airline partners and stakeholders to promote Ghana as a center for connectivity, commerce, and tourism.
