Winneba, Feb 12, GNA - The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) is expanding its facilities and operations at Winneba to meet the demand

of its increasing customers. Under the expansion programme, two agencies would be opened at the South and North campuses of the University of Education,

Winneba, to save student- customers from travelling to the main bank in

the Winneba township. Mr Edward Quaynor, Manager of the bank, who told the Ghana

News Agency in Winneba, said the expansion would decongest the

branch. He said two Automated Teller Machines for withdrawal of cash

would be installed at the Agencies, while another one would be added

to the one at the main branch. According to the manager, the bank's building had become too

small for its customers, especially at the end of the month, when

workers received their salaries. Mr Quaynor did not disclose the cost of programme, which started

in December 2008, but said work would be completed at the end of this

month. He said on completion, the strength of workers at the counter would be increased to ensure quick service to customers, adding that, air

conditioners would also be provided at the hall. Mr Raymond Kofi Enin, Operations Manager of the bank, said the

GCB management had signed a Memorandum of Understanding

(MOU) with the authorities of the University of Education Winneba

towards the construction of a permanent building and elevation of the

Agencies to branch status in the future.
