Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) has presented computers and office equipments to the Research, Statistics and Information Management Directorate (RSIM) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Accra.

The items which cost thousands of cedis included ten computers and two projectors, two projector screens, two scanners and two colour-printers.

The External Relations Coordinator of GCNet, Ama Amoah, said the gesture was in response to a request from the MOTI for assistance in resourcing the Directorate.

The RSIM Directorate of MOTI is responsible for creating and maintaining a reliable data-base in the trade and industrial sector for policy formulation and decision-making, and develops a system for providing feedback to stakeholders and clients of the sector.

The Ministry is currently in the process of strengthening and modernising its research and data management unit for all the other Directorates, and conducts research into activities to remove bottlenecks and enhance service delivery standards.

MOTI has also arranged for a cross-section of its staff to be trained in GCNet’s data extraction and management software (COGNUS IMPROMPTU) to query and produce reliable international data.
