GFZ sworn in new governing board members

The Ghana Free Zone Board which was establish by an act of parliament in 1995 Act 504 to facilitate the Economy development to the establishment of the export production in Ghana has today sworn into office New Gender sensitive Governing Board Member.

Speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, president John Dramani Mahama as a request Made to the Minister of Trade and Industry ,Haruna Iddrisu inaugurated the 10 Governing Board into office in Accra.

The Board Include, Haruna Iddrisu (MP), Mrs. Gifty Anku, Ms. Katherine Oduro, Mrs. Eugenia Jackson- Cofie, Mr. William Adotei Addo, Mrs. Florence Hutchful, Ms. Anita De Sosoo, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, ACP (RTD) Alhaji Mahama Adams, and Mr.Francis Elvis Kofi Amenyeh.

He said the ideal position behind Ghana Free Zone Board is that 70% Citizen might dedicate themselves to export production in Ghana.

He noted that the major challenging policy decision of president Mahama administration is the review of the mandate of Ghana Free Zone Board was to translate it to Ghana free zone Authority.

He said translation of the Free Zone Authority will be based on tactics in many other parts of the world where the free zone eclipse is use not just an opportunity to create jobs but to increase the volume of export in other to attract foreign direct investors into the country for partnership.

He requested that all Free zone board company in Ghana which are not comply with free zone directive will not be tolerate in the coming year, meanwhile he entreat all Free Zone entities that is registered under Free Zone Board must ensure that it uphold with paying tax holding tax to the government as required by law.

He noted that some industry in the country is not with holding tax to make declaration to the government of Ghana since is part of the obligation under the law. Adding that 1% pay must be dedicated into trading fair and technology companies in the country.

He Urge the Board Members to the work hard in achieving the dream come years and are looking forward to the revision of Act 504 in 1995 to make the Free Zone Board meaningful in the discharge of it obligation.
