Tema, Jan 24, GNA - GHACEM is ready to face competition in the cement market with the adoption of strategies to cope with the situation, Dr George Dawson Ahmoah, Marketing Director of the company has said.
Speaking to the GNA, he said GHACEM was adjusting to the competition without giving details but stated that, "we have strengthened relationship and partnership to maintain our old customers and win more".
He pointed out, however, that "taking the high quality of the product" GHACEM, which enjoyed monopoly over the trade for over three decades would maintain its market lead even in the face of another cement company and another one being established at Tema.
Dr Dawson Ahmoah stated that in spite of the competition, GHACEM distributed 1.6 metric tones of cement in 2004 and maintained the figure in 2005 paying about 20 million US Dollars annually as taxes and duties. The Marketing Director admitted that the price cement was high but said account should be taken of the other materials that went into the production of the product and the premium attached to it.
