GIA Announces Ecowas Schedule

12 weekly round trip flights between Accra and Lagos Ghana International Airline Limited (GIA) has officially released its summer schedule (below) that features convenient flight timings and increased frequencies on key routes within the ECOWAS sub-region.

In addition to this, the cities of Bamako, Ouagadugu, Banjul, Freetown and Monrovia will be served six times weekly each, while Dakar and Conakry will receive four weekly flights.

GIA will expand services in the Winter 2005 schedule to launch long haul flights to London and Dussseldorf in Europe as well as to Johannesburg in South Africa.

All flights will be operated with modern and efficient Boeing 767-300ER and MD-90 aircraft that will feature a Business Class cabin as well as Economy Class.

"GIA is poised on the threshold of achieving something wonderful for Ghana and indeed for the entire sub-region," said Ralph Aitkin CEO of GIA. "Our management team has done a fantastic job getting us to the point.

We do however need for a few key loose ends to be tied up, as further delays will cause critical problems for the start of the airline."

GIA is the new national carrier of Ghana and is a Ghanaian company formed in partnership between the Government and a consortium of international private investors operating a fleet of modern and efficient Boeing 767-300ER and MD 90 aircraft, GIA plans to develop Accra as the "Gateway to Africa" providing connections from Europe and North America to Accra and owned within Africa.
