The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) is to open its satellite campus in Takoradi by September this year, for individuals who want to upgrade themselves in education.
Mr. Ato Van Ess, chairman if the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce speaking at an open- house for prospective applicants for 2013/2014 academic year, noted that the academic industry in the Sekondi-Takoradi is very low.
“Since oil was discovered in the region, there have been a lot of academic institutions that are opening their branches in the metropolis -- this is a good initiative that is commendable,” he said.
He said the region is not just producing natural resources but is ready to produce the human resource needed for growth and development of the country.
Mr. George Kwame Nsiah-Gyan, Deputy Registrar at the School of Business at GIMPA, explained that the school is a fully-fledged University that offers courses which lead to the award of diplomas, degrees and doctorates.
“We have the schools of Business, Public Service and Guidance, Technology, Law as well as offering consultancy services to companies - also, we offer courses in Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Accounting among others,” he said.
He announced that GIMPA will soon introduce an e-learning centre and advised students as well as individuals who want to further their education to patronise the satellite campus in Takoradi.
