The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has lauded the Ivorian Government for the organization of the Investments forum in Côte d'Ivoire, dubbed (ICI) 2014.

Mr Prosper Tom Quarshie, GIPC’s Senior Investment Promotion Officer for Marketing and Public Relations said the Ivoirian Authorities took painstaking steps to identify priority areas of their economy and what they intend doing in the coming decades, which they had nicely packaged and presented to the international investor community.

He also commended them for doing a detailed ground work in the organization of the forum and exhibition, adding that, the Ivoirians had a national development plan for the next 10 years.

Mr Quarshie, who made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Abidjan, said there was the need for countries in the sub-region to increase economic cooperation and integration.

He said countries within the West African sub-region need to open their doors to each other for trade liberalization and economic partnership. He said: “In our individual countries we will not be able to satisfy the demand of the international community but as a sub-region we can”.

He said Ghanaians need to be smart and learn from the ICI 2014, which is the fourth edition being organized by the Ivoirian government. Mr Quarshie stated that in the past, the GIPC had been organising seminars and exhibitions but not on a large international scale like the ICI 2014.

He said despite the fact that Ghana is one of the leading countries in the sub-region, in terms of attraction of international investors; it needs to emulate the Ivory coast, declaring that, the government of Ghana is committed to the expansion of the agro-industry as well as infrastructural development.

The four day investment forum and exhibition, according to the Investment Promotion Centre of Cote d’Ivoire, attracted over 4,000 investors.
