GIPC makes appointments

Accra, Nov. 10, GNA - As part of its restructuring programme, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is recruiting skilled and dedicated Ghanaians to fill key positions in its bid to attract private, domestic and foreign investments to transform Ghana into a broad-based industrial and export-led economy through aggressive investment promotion activities.

In this direction, the Centre recently made three key appointments into the positions of Business Development, Public Affairs and Communications, and Training and Development, a statement from the GIPC said on Monday.

The statement said Mr Edward Benjamin Ashong-Lartey, Director, Business Development, is a veteran in investment promotion analysis and targeting.

He holds an MBA in corporate strategy and economic policy from the Maastricht School of Management, Holland and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Economics and Geography from the University of Ghana, Legon. His role at GIPC, where he has worked for over 21 years, includes provision of investment advisory services, monitoring and coordination of investments from South East Asia in the services, tourism and real estate sectors of Ghana.

Mr Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, Director, Public Affairs and Communications, has over 20 years of media and communications experience. A former Communications Director, Account Manager, and Advertising and Promotions Manager, Mr Darkwa brings his experience as a broadcast producer-director, manager of media skilled in corporate presentations, media planning, creative direction, conference management and communications to GIPC.

He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Film and Television Production from London Metropolitan University, Diploma in Journalism from Ghana Institute of Journalism and Certificates in Marketing Management from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, among others. Ms Afua Yeboah Mamattah, Principal, Training and Development, has over 18 years training experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

"Ms Mamattah has delivered business training seminars and networking sessions for senior and middle management and is charged to develop this vital component of the new GIPC," the statement said. The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre is a government agency re-established under the GIPC Act 1994 (Act 478) mandated to encourage, promote and facilitate investment in the all sectors of the Ghanaian economy with the exception of mining, petroleum, free zones activities and the privatization of Government entities. 10 Nov. 08
