GIPC records appreciable levels of investments

Accra, June 23, GNA - The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) recorded a total of 257 investment projects with a total estimated value of 619.99 million dollars last year.

Out of this, a total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of 551.30 milli on dollars representing 88.92 per cent was recorded.

According to the quarterly update report of GIPC, investors made a total of 108.60 million dollars transfers.

It said for the first quarter of this year, FDI recorded 161.34 million dollars which showed an increase of over 800 per cent compared with 16.53 million dollars recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2009. The report said; "This increase was as a result of a renewed confide nce by investors in the Ghanaian investment environment.
