Odeifour Nana Boadi Aseidu, Adahene of New Juaben Traditional Area, had urged the GN Bank to demonstrate their accolade as people’s bank by sponsoring a football team at Koforidua to the Premier League.
He said, football is the most loved sports in the New Juaben Municipality and the game that a lot of people participate and the sponsorship could help unearth soccer talents in the municipality and help changed the economy of the area.
Nana Asiedu was speaking at the sixth nation-wide launching of the GN Bank at Koforidua .
The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr Patrick Anumel said, it is the desire of the bank to maintain it’s character as “the people’s bank” to meet the financial needs of the ordinary people while at the same time aimed at becoming the best big bank in the country by 2015.
He explained that, the bank had to change it’s name form First National Bank to GN Bank because, there are First National Banks in other parts of the world and on attaining the universal banking status, the bank would have to deal with other international banks and this could crate confusion if the name of the bank is not changed.
He said, the bank has 103 branches all over the country in both urban and rural areas and apart from that, uses several means including mobile banking and other means to reach their customers.
