GNCCI donates GH¢100,000 to support coronavirus fight

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has donated GH¢100,000 into the National COVID-19 Trust Fund to help the nation's effort to fight the outbreak of the disease.

The donation which was made at a short ceremony at the Jubilee house was received the head of the Trust Fund, Former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.

President of the GNCCI, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso said, “the outbreak of Coronavirus has disrupted every aspect of human life; economic, physical, and mental well-being. Businesses are among the hardest-hit resulted in shutdown of some factories, lay-offs, short-time working, redundancy and disruptions in global value chain.

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry commends government for the drastic and decisive measures taken to curb the spread of the Corona virus.

As the representative organ of the business community in Ghana, it is in our collective interest to work together and mitigate the impact of the COVID-19”

He added that, “on behalf of the Council, Membership, and Staff of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), I wish to present a cash donation of GH¢100,000 to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund in support of the fight against the Coronavirus.

This cash donation is a sum total of the voluntary contribution from our regional chambers in Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Tarkwa and Wa.”

The Chamber said it was looking forward to engaging government and key stakeholders in finding innovative ways of supporting the business community in this critical moment.

The President further urge members and the business community to continue adhering to the preventive measures announced by government and also make voluntary contributions to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund.

The Head of the Trust Funds thanked the Chamber for the donation.
