Bolgatanga, April 20, GNA - Officials of the Ghana Post Company Limited, led by the Managing Director, Mr. Kofi Dua-Adonteng on Monday held talks with a three-man delegation led by Mr. Sanfo Salam, Director in Courier SONA Post of Burkina Faso in Bolgatanga.
The meeting aimed at improving mail service between the two countries was also to address operational issues regarding the movement of mail between Accra and Ouagadougou to reduce delays and cost. Mr. Dua-Adonteng told newsmen that the idea was necessitated by the scarcity of connecting flights, among West African states resulting in long delays in the delivery of international mail and also contributed to the poor postal service.
He said that even though the major routes in West Africa were Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal, land-locked countries were also to be linked up for a wider coverage in mail.
The Managing Director said a project had been designed to run on pilot basis within Ghana, Benin, Togo, Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
