GRA engages stakeholders on post clearance audit

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) recently met stakeholders in Accra to create awareness on its restructured Post Clearance Audit (PCA) activities.

The PCA enables GRA to serve the public well and mobilize sufficient revenue for national development.

Deputy Commissioner Customs Division, Frank Jones Abban, in a remark, said the meeting with the stakeholders helped them to appreciate the objectives, functions, processes and operations of the restructured department.

According to him, GRA was currently undergoing reforms to serve the public effectively.

Mr. Abban also highlighted customs declarations, which have been completed in compliance with customs requirements through examination of a trader’s systems, accounting records and premises.

Isaac Crentsil, Deputy Commissioner for PCA, Customs Division, said PCA allows for customs control subsequent to the release of cargo from customs custody.

“We look at the risk issue and then move in to verify and ensure that we comply with all the Customs Act, legislation and administrative policies,” he said.

Mr. Crentsil assured stakeholders that PCA will help companies conduct business in international and domestic markets.

Additionally, he said it would help companies avoid re-assessment and associated costs.
