The Ghana Revenue Authority’s Special Taskforce has revealed that it would intensify its night operation to clamp down on tax evaders.

The taskforce last week carried out a night operation resulting in the closure of sections of the Golden Spoon Hotel at Abeka Junction.

The taskforce which was set up in August has so far retrieved over 107 million cedis so far.

Theophilus Gaskin, Director of the Taskforce in an interview with Starr News said 200 new tax payers have been identified and registered through their operations.

“200 tax payers were newly identified and registered. The taskforce has been able to mobilise a total of 107.257 million Ghana cedis during this period…it is really a very huge figure particularly coming from delinquent tax payers who hitherto could not be reached by our operational activities,” Mr. Gaskin said.

Meanwhile, three businesses Caza Mara, Kalrdorf and Golden Spoon Hotel all at Abeka Junction risk being closed down from if they fail to file their tax returns to the GRA after they were found culpable of various tax offences.
