GSE All-Share Index shoots up

Accra, Jan. 16, GNA - Thursday saw brisk trading on Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) as four equities sold more than 100,000 shares and the All-Share Index, main market indicator, shot up by 9.45 points to close trading at 6,680.12 points.

Change year to date also went up to 1.22 per cent from 1.07 per cent on Wednesday.

In all 913,000 shares changed hands with Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) selling 371,100 shares; Mechanical Llyod Co. Ltd (MLC), 261,700 shares; Ecobank Transnational Inc (ETI), 106,500 shares and Ayrton Drug Manufacturing Limited (AYRTN), 100,000 shares.

On the broader market, there were six positive price changes. Fan Milk Limited (FML) led the pack as it went up by GH=A2 0.2421 to close trading at GH=A2 2.6622; Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) gained GH=A2 0.1301 to close at GH=A2 1.4301; CAL Bank (CAL) was GH=A2 0.0019 better at GH=A2 0.4600; while SG-SSB Limited (SG-SSB) went up GH=A2 0.0002 to close at GH=A2 1.3002 with Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) and Total Petroleum Ghana Limited (TOTAL) gaining GH=A2 0.0001 each to end trading at GH=A2 1.2328 and GH=A2 5.4951, respectively.

Market capitalisation went up to GH=A2 12,420.55 million from Wednesday's GH=A2 12,412.09 million.
