GSE Index recovers despite another GCB loss

Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) All Share-Index on Wednesday made a slight recovery after Monday's loss, rising 3.67 points in a dull market.

The index, which fell on Monday, rallied to close 2,597.44 points from 2,593.77 points.

Shares that changed hands dropped for the second successive trading session to 62,500 shares from to 89,300 shares on Monday. There were 10 price changes, one down and nine up.

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) fell for the fourth time, losing 300 cedis in the process at 7,500 cedis. Gainers during the session are British American Tobacco, which went up 99 cedis at 2,400 cedis, Enterprise Insurance Company which was up 50 cedis at 6,850 cedis, Fan Milk Limited gained 210 cedis at 3,150 cedis and Ghana Brewery Limited rose by 10 cedis at 810 cedis.

Other equities that saw a positive price change are Guinness Ghana Limited, which went up 98 cedis at 3,900 cedis, Produce Buying Company which increased by 42 cedis at 1,150, Patterson Zochonis which rose by 146 cedis at 2,400 cedis, SSB Bank that appreciated by 48 cedis at 8,050 cedis and Unilever which was up 80 cedis at 8,800 cedis.

The change in year to date was down at 86.16 per cent.

Market capitalization was up at 10,154.65 billion cedis, a rise from 10,139.65 billion cedis.
