GSE loses ground again

Accra, Aug. 15, GNA - The Accra bourse went down again in trading on Monday with the GSE-All Share Index, the main market indicator, declining by 5.62 points.

A 100-cedi loss by CAL Bank wiped out weak gains by four other equities.


The index ended trading at 4,840.79 points from Friday's close of 4,846.41 points.


Change for the year-to-date now stands at -28.80 per cent. There were five price changes - four up and one down. CAL Bank lost 100 cedis at 2,000 cedis, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited was three cedis better at 6,011 cedis, SG-SSB gained one cedi at 7,811 cedis and Mobil Oil Ghana Limited was two cedis up at 38,002 cedis.


Shares that changed hands slumped to 55,400 from 564,800 on Friday. Market capitalisation was also down at 91,998.84 billion cedis from Friday's close of 92,013.67 billion cedis from 3,383.22 issued shares.
