Mr Alex Dzakuma, Volta Regional Corporate Communications Representative who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday, said the decision was to help curb the rampant armed robbery and other criminal activities during festive occasions like Easter. He said Ghana Telecom has, therefore, drastically reduced the cost of installing a fresh landline from GH¢40 to GH¢20 and urged the public to take advantage of the offer. He explained that, the landline connection was effective and reliable in helping to provide quick and timely information on criminal activities to the Police.

Mr Dzakuma said the use of the landline phone saves a lot of time and cost to users and also remained relevant especially in helping to identify the location of users.

Mr Dzakuma said the Company has also added value to its "Easy phones" and asked customers and non-customers to take advantage of the Easter Bonanza to access the various products GT provides. Mr Dzakuma said remote areas were also being reached with its "Smart Phone" product, to ensure that wherever anyone was, he or she could communicate with the rest of the world during the Easter celebrations.
